USU football: One who won't be back

Gavin Jones, who would've been a senior linebacker, has left the program in what was a mutual decision.
Jones, who came to USU from Snow College as a safety, graduated a few weeks ago and decided to move on to the next phase of his life, rather than play his senior season.
Jones and the USU coaching staff parted on good terms.
As a linebacker, Jones would likely have been a back-up with Bojay Filimoeatu and Kyler Fackrell likely claiming the starting outside spots. Still, Jones' work ethic, his experience and his versatility would've been welcomed this season to what will be a young linebacking crew in a number of spots.
And with Bobby Wagner gone, that group needed all the depth it could get.
