It has yet to be determined whether Matt Austin, Utah State's terrific wide receiver, will return to Logan for one more season.
The Aggie coaching staff is waiting for the NCAA to rule on his application for a medical hardship waiver and the sixth year of eligibility that comes with it.
Austin has missed two years due to injury, which is usually the requirement. He missed all of the 2009 season with a broken foot, and then tore his knee up against Oklahoma in the first game of the 2010 season.
"We believe that it's a slam dunk that he should get another year," USU head coach Gary Andersen said.
But that's still to be determined. There is no timetable on the ruling. It's obvious that the USU offense needs Austin, who became one of the top wideouts in the WAC this season with his ability to run routes and his sure hands. If he returns, he makes the offense much more dangerous next season.
