USU football: Keeton is the man, according to Gary Andersen
Published on Dec 19, 2011 03:32PM
Chuckie Keeton will enter spring football as the starting quarterback, Gary Andersen said on Monday.
The freshman, who lost his job when he was injured in the Hawaii game, will enter his sophomore season as the man behind center, while Adam Kennedy will be allowed to compete for the spot.
"Obviously we want to create competition," Andersen said. "But in my mind, Chuckie has the edge. You never want a starter to lose his job because of injury."
Kennedy, who led USU to a comeback win over the Warriors, went 5-1 as the starter. His only loss has been to Ohio, in Saturday's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Kennedy is considered the better passer, while Keeton is considered the better runner.
