As the result of his strong showing against BYU, sophomore forward Mitch Bruneel will get the start against Weber State, instead of freshman Steven Thornton.

In the preseason, Stew Morrill told the media that the position will be somewhat of a fluid situation this season, as he intends to ride the hot hand a little bit.

Bruneel, the transfer from the College of Southern Idaho, scored eight points against the Cougars. All of them came in the first half in a crucial stretch where USU's offense was struggling mightily to get good looks at the basket.

"We were in trouble there and he bailed us out a little bit," Morrill said. "I think he's got some maturity and some strength. I think he deserves the chance to start."
