E.J. Farris will be on campus for two more years.

James Walker is gone, having transferred to parts unknown.

Riley Bradshaw will be an Aggie in 2012, but the staff plans on playing him almost exclusively at the shooting guard spot.

And to top it off, this blog has learned that barring a change of thinking, there are no plans in place to recruit another guard.

So what does this mean for Marcel Davis? Simple. The starting point guard spot appears to be his to lose from the minute he becomes an Aggie.

This is a conscious decision by the Utah State coaching staff. First, they believe that Davis has the talent, the attitude, and most importantly the temperment and the maturity to step in and start. Indeed, Davis has seen his stock rise nationally in the months following his junior season. ESPN has given him a 90 ranking, and labeled him as the 17th best point guard in high school basketball.

Secondly, much like Brockeith Pane this season, the belief is that Davis will step into a veteran laden lineup. And he will project to be a part of a backcourt led by Preston Medlin, who will be a junior at the time.

So the question is whether or not this is a risky decision by the Aggies? Davis is all but labeled as a national recruit. He's certainly one of the better point guard recruits out west. If nothing else, it's an interesting one from Stew Morrill, who's long been thought of as a conservative coach who doesn't like taking chances.
