Selection Sunday.

It's the holy grail for many college basketball teams. Utah State, which defeated Boise State in the WAC title game on Saturday night is no exception.

With that out of the way, where will the Aggies end up?

Here's the opinion of this blog.

Utah State is 30-3. The Aggies don't have many great wins, but Idaho is USU's only bad loss. The Aggies are the 15th rated team in the RPI, they won their conference, albiet a weak conference, by six games. They didn't stumble in the conference tournament.

"This team has had a lot of pressure on it this season," Stew Morrill said. "They've answered a lot of questions this season."

Indeed. Utah State's proven to be a model of consistency this year, and the Aggies deserve to be rewarded for that consistency.

That reward should come from the NCAA Selection Committee in the form of a No. 7 seed in either Tuscon or Denver with San Diego State as the No. 2 seed. The Aggies would be close to home, it would be the highest seed in Stew Morrill's tenure at USU and it would give USU at least a decent shot at getting out of the first round.

Whether this happens is another story. One thing is certain. Had USU slipped up and lost to Boise State, the Aggies would've been considerably lower than what is currently projected.
