Manhattan Love Story (Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4) isn't the worst new show this fall, but it's certainly on that list.

It's also perhaps the most annoying new show this fall because it never, ever shuts up.

This alleged romantic comedy - which is neither romantic nor comedic - follows the adventures of two insufferable people. Peter (Jake McDorman) is an irritating native New Yorker; Dana (Analeigh Tipton) is an exasperating small-town girl who recently moved to the Big Apple.

Despite the fact that the premise of this sitcom is that we will follow the relationship between these two people, they display no chemistry whatsoever in Tuesday's premiere.

And the show's producers employ an incredibly aggravating device that should have lots of viewers grabbing for their remotes: We hear their thoughts. Everything they're thinking. None of which is funny.

If you don't change channels, you might just find yourself yelling "Shut up!" at your television.

Blech.

The only good thing about the Peter and Dana characters is that they are less annoying than any of the other characters in "Manhattan Love Story," a motley collection of parents, siblings and in-laws.

This is one bad show.
