You've never seen vampires quite like the ones in Guillermo del Toro's new series The Strain (Sunday, 11 p.m., FX). It opens with terror aboard an airliner, which ends up on runway with no sign of life aboard. Enter Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) from the CDC, and the horror is off and running. It's intriguing, creepy and downright scary at times.

Also, Friday's crime-of-the-week on Dateline NBC (7 p.m., Ch. 5) features former Utahn Linda LeBrane - a Washington woman who was brutally attacked in Idaho in 2000.

The focus here is on one of the people convicted of the attack, Sarah Pearce. Some witnesses who testified against Pearce now say they're not sure she was there; Lebrane is sure Pearce was.
