(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) New Mexico State Aggies guard Daniel Mullings (23) tries to get past the UVU defense in game action at Utah Valley University in Orem on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014.
Wednesday on TV: You can watch UVU in the NIT, but not on TV

For the second night in a row, a local team plays in the National Invitation Tournament. On the road. In California. Against a team from a league that includes another local team.

Utah Valley (20-11) takes on Cal (19-13) at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN3, and the Wolverines are hoping to avoid the fate of the Utah Utes, who fell to St. Mary's 70-58 on Tuesday.

There may be some reason to hope, however, The Daily Californian, Cal's student paper, quoted Bears player Justin Cobbs saying, "Nobody wants to play in the NIT" shortly before Cal was eliminated from the Pac-12 tournament.

ESPN3 is not a television channel. It's ESPN's online streaming service. So you're going to have to make sure you can log in to see the game.
