Tuesday on Utah TV: It's a dark journey to "Parade's End" on HBO

Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock") stars in Parade's End (10, 11:05 p.m., HBO), a five-hour miniseries based on the novels of Ford Madox Ford and written for TV by Tom Stoppard ("Shakespeare In Love").

Set on the eve of WWI, aristocrat Christopher Tjetijens is trapped in a loveless marriage with an unfaithful wife, but he's attracted to a young suffragette. Don't go in expecting "Downton Abbey" - "Parade's End" is very dark.

Also, Makers: Women Who Make America (7:30 p.m., PBS/Ch. 7) features Hillary Clinton, Gloria Steinem, Ellen DeGeneres, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters and Katie Couric and more talking about the women who have helped shape America.

The national show is preceded by KUED's local take - Makers: Voice of Utah Women (7 p.m., Ch. 7).
