Wednesday on Utah TV: "SVU" launches 14th season with three-part story

Law & Order: SVU (8 and 9 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5) kicks off its 14th season with a very good, three-part story.

The investigation into a young woman's death uncovers corruption within the NYPD - and Captain Cragen is framed for murder.

The first two episodes of the story - which plays out like a miniseries of sorts - air tonight. The third and final episode airs next week.

Survivor: Philippines (7 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2): Former "Facts of Life" star Lisa Whelchel is struggling. And, it turns out, her divorce was finalized shortly before she arrived on the island.

The Middle (7 and 8 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): In the hourlong season premiere, Mike accidentally makes it clear which of his children is his favorite; Brick tries to grow a giant tomato; and Sue tries to bond with her father.

Animal Practice (7 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): Dorothy tries to make the staff not hate her.

Criminal Minds (8 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2): Former "Big Love" Jeanne Tripplehorn joins the cast as the newest member of the BAU team - and she's immediately confronted with an unsettling case. (Season premiere)

Modern Family (8 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Gloria tries to figure out how to tell Jay that she's pregnant. (Season premiere)

The Neighbors (8:30 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Debut of this decidedly weird new sitcom.

CSI (9 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2): There's a desperate search for Russell's granddaughter, kidnapped in last spring's season finale. (Season premiere)

Revenge (9 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): If you didn't watch the first season of "Revenge," here's an hourlong recap of the first 22 episodes. The second-season premiere is Sunday at 8 p.m.

Late Show with David Letterman (10:35 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2): British prime minister David Cameron is scheduled to be a guest.

Top Chef Masters (11 p.m., Bravo): The final two chefs compete; a winner is declared.

South Park (11 p.m., Comedy Central): South Park Elementary tackles the issue of football concussions.

Key & Peele (11:30 p.m., Comedy Central): Sketches include President Obama's college years and crashing a Civil War re-enactment.
