As viewers of PBS's "Broadway or Bust" learned on Sunday night, Utahn Malia Morely was one of the winners at the Jimmy Awards.
The Hillcrest High grad was named best ensemble performer at the awards for aspiring teen musical theater performers, which were taped back in June.
(Didn't want to spoil the show for viewers when I wrote about it several weeks ago.)
"It was pretty amazing," said Morely. "I was not expecting to win anything."
Both Morely and the other Utahn in the contest and on the show, Alta High grad Peter Lambert, said the Broadway boot camp was about the experience and not a cut-throat competition.
"I wasn't there to win anything," Morely said. "I got so much out of it that was more important than winning."
