There is at least one Utahn with a shot at being the next "American Idol" - although the odds remain rather long.

After auditioning in Colorado, Kalli Therinae of Lehi was one of 309 contestants who made it to the Hollywood round of the competition. She survived the first big cut there, so she's got a one-in-183 chance of winning it all.

"I believe I have what it takes to be on the show and I have a gift that can give my family a better life," Therinae said in video provided by Fox.

The 19-year-old singer, who moved to Utah from Pennsylvania in 2010, hasn't gotten much airtime on the show to date.

In this past Thursday's episode, however, Kalli was seen bonding with her fellow contestants and celebrating making it through the cut. Viewers also briefly saw her practicing during breakfast and performing with Utah Plus Blondes, with whom she will perform during the group competition.

The competition continues with two-hour episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 15, and Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. on Fox/Ch. 13.

The semifinalists will be announced next week, on Wednesday, Feb. 22, and Thursday, Feb. 23.
