There's a pretty good show about aliens invading earth on television right now. And, no, it's not the remake of "V," which got off to a good start but has become a nearly unwatchable mess.

(There are two episodes of "V" remaining, and the chances of another season are slim.)

The good show is The Event (7 and 8 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5), which returns from a three-month hiatus with a pair of episodes tonight.

"The Event" has rolled things out rather slowly. Heck, in the first episode we didn't even know that there were aliens involved. (It seemed like a reasonable guess, but we didn't know for sure.)

The show has been consistently intriguing. It's not all black-and-white - there are good aliens and bad aliens, good humans and bad humans. And, not only is it sometimes hard to tell who's good and who's bad, but on several occasions we've been surprised to discover that characters we thought were humans are actually aliens.

Plus, there are plots within plots that are being unraveled for us.

The problem is - if you haven't been watching the show since the beginning, it's probably too late to jump in now. (Ten episodes have already aired.) Which is definitely a drawback with this sort of show.

If you're already on board, you'll be happy to know that, in addition to the two episodes airing Monday, there are nine more hours to come. And that the producers have promised that the season will end in a manner that will give fans a satisfying conclusion.

On the other hand, word is that "V" is going to end on a cliffhanger. Sigh.

Elsewhere on TV ...

NBA (5:30 p.m., FSN): Utah Jazz at New York Knicks

The Bachelor (7 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Wow. Two hours of the women "telling all." Sounds less like entertainment and more like torture.

House (7 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13): Utahn Allison Holker ("So You Think You Can Dance") guest stars, dancing in one of several dream sequences.

College basketball (7 p.m., ESPN): The finals of the West Coast Conference tournament - Gonzaga vs. St. Mary's. Not that anyone in Utah cares too much right now, but this is the league BYU is joining next season.

And wasn't it interesting to see that the first two rounds of the WCC tournament were carried by BYUtv on Friday and Saturday? Four games that otherwise wouldn't have been televised at all? Looks like BYU is already ingratiating itself with its new basketball partners.

Being Human (7 and 9 p.m., Syfy): Love the title of this episode - "Children Shouldn't Play with Undead Things."

Mad Love (7:30 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2): Kate's younger sister (Brittany Snow) comes for a visit; Larry and Connie try to help each other pick up dates in a bar.

The Chicago Code (8 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13): Wysocki and Evers run into trouble while investigating a teenager's death.

Stargate Universe (8 and 10 p.m., Syfy): In the first new episode in more than three months, the crew frantically tries to repair the Destiny's shields.

Harry's Law (9 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): A teenager who tries to help a shooting victim is suspected of shooting a cop.

Pretty Little Liars (9 and 11 p.m., ABC Family): The girls discover they're not the only ones hiding secrets.

Greek (10 p.m., ABC Family): In the series finale, the KTs try to save their house from being demolished.
