In the wake of the protests in Ferguson, Mo., police departments across the country have been scrutinized for not reflecting the racial diversity of the communities they serve. According to 2010 census data, 22 percent of West Valley City residents are Hispanic while 5 percent of officers are Hispanic.

On Monday at 12:15 p.m., West Valley City police chief Lee Russo, Proyecto Latino de Utah director Tony Yapias and Tribune reporter Jessica Miller join Jennifer Napier-Pearce to discuss why diversity within police departments matters.
