"The Skeleton Twins"
*** 1/2 (three and a half stars)
Great comic chemistry translates beautifully to drama in director Craig Johnson’s "The Skeleton Twins," a dysfunctional family comedy-drama enlivened by stars and former "Saturday Night Live" pals Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig. Hader plays Milo, a failing actor who slits his wrists after being dumped by his boyfriend -- the same day his twin sister Maggie (Kristen Wiig) contemplates downing a handful of pills. Milo ends up returning to live with Maggie and her nice-guy husband Lance (Luke Wilson) in their old hometown, dealing with family issues that have festered since the twins stopped talking 10 years ago. Wiig and Hader banter hilariously in the comedy scenes (especially a show-stopping lip-synch duet to Starship’s "Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now"), but they really shine when the movie dips into the serious stuff.
