From Sundance, Golden Globes like 'Sessions,' snub 'Beasts'

One film from the 2012 Sundance Film Festival earned two Golden Globes nominations this morning, while another Sundance title thought to be a major Oscar contender got snubbed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
"The Sessions," the real-life story of a quadriplegic poet/journalist’s encounter with a sex surrogate, earned nominations for John Hawkes (best actor, drama) and Helen Hunt (supporting actress).
The big snub hit "Beasts of the Southern Wild," the Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner about a little girl in a Louisiana Delta town. This may be explained by the HFPA’s desire to pick big stars over unknowns.
