"Save the Date"

U.S. Dramatic

*** ½ (three and a half stars)

Love's a funny thing – and decidedly funny in this cliche-breaking romantic comedy. Sisters Sarah (Lizzy Caplan) and Beth (Alison Brie) are going in different directions in their relationships: Beth is preparing to marry easygoing musician Andrew (Martin Starr), while Sarah has just dumped Andrew's bandmate, the awkwardly romantic Kevin (Geoffrey Arend). On the rebound, Sarah starts dating Jonathan (Mark Webber), as the pressures of Beth's wedding plans escalate. Director Michael Mohan (who directed the 2010 alcoholism dramedy "One Too Many Mornings") shows sharp comic timing with his talented cast, and the script by Mohan, Jeffrey Brown and Egan Reich embraces its charaters without villainizing any of them.
