"Miss Representation"U.S. Documentary competition** 1/2Filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom is on the side of the angels with her subject matter: How sexist images in the media do harm to our view of women in general — and, specifically, of the notion of women in power. And she draws a wide array of voices, including actresses (Geena Davis, Jane Fonda, Rosario Dawson), news personalities (Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow) and newsmakers (Condoleeza Rice, Nancy Pelosi). But her skills as a filmmaker aren't up to the task. Her points are labored and repetitive, and the way she inserts her personal story (referencing her career as an actress, and the frequent mentions of her own daughter) are awkwardly handled.

"Miss Representation" screens again at: Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Temple Theatre, Park City; Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Broadway Centre Cinema V, Salt Lake City; Thursday, Jan. 27, at noon at the Holiday Village Cinema IV, Park City; and Saturday, Jan. 29, at 2:30 p.m. at the Prospector Square Theatre, Park City.
