Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Revue with Carmen Electra. In Utah? Yes. Really.
Published on Jan 20, 2011 07:11PM

The Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Revue with Carmen Electra hits Main Street in Park City this Friday.

Choreographer Robin Antin co-created the Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Revue in Los Angeles in 1995 and has had a hand in producing the platinum-selling pop group The Pussycat Dolls since 2003. Antin said tonight’s show is inspired by the original with sexy women — including Carmen Electra, a veteran of the original show — entertaining through provocative dancing, music from different eras and genres, and a healthy dose of wit. “Inside every woman is a pussycat doll,” says Antin, who claims the show appeals to men and women. “It’s female empowerment.” Stars such as Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Scarlett Johansson and Charlize Theron have performed with the burlesque troupe in the past. The music the Dolls will perform and dance to tonight is a mash-up of modern songs (such as the Dolls’ biggest hit, 2005’s “Don’t Cha”) and songs from the 1950s and ’60s that burlesque troupes have traditionally used. “It’s almost like a party mix,” Antin said. “Twisted, but well-thought-out.” Antin will emcee and perform during tonight’s show, and after her Sundance visit is planning on bringing a Pussycat Dolls troupe to Brazil and opening a Pussycat Dolls Las Vegas club at Planet Hollywood. As for the group, Antin has begun searching for new members, including a new lead singer, which, according to Antin’s philosophy, could be any woman. Even my wife.
