Real Salt Lake used the No. 12 pick in Thursday’s MLS SuperDraft to add depth to its midfield, taking on Maryland’s John Stertzer.
Stertzer, 22, scored 23 goals and tallied 13 assists in 63 career appearances for the Terrapins.
Salt Lake traded up two spots in the second round, swapping its No. 31 pick and some supplemental draft picks for Philadelphia’s No. 29. With the pick, RSL took New Mexico forward Devon Sandoval.
