Soccer player who helped lead U.S. to greatest upset dies
Published on Feb 7, 2012 11:40AM
Harry Keough, who died Tuesday at age 84, was part of what many regard as the greatest upset in soccer history.

Keough was a defender on the U.S. national team which scored a 1-0 victory against England in the 1950 World Cup.

Keough had one goal in 19 appearances for the U.S. from 1949-57, and started all three games for the Americans at the 1950 World Cup. He was named captain when the U.S. played Spain in the World Cup opener.

Keough, a native of St. Louis and father of Ty Keough, was featured in the 2009 soccer documentary "A Time for Champions," a look at the U.S. upset victory over England and his coaching career at St. Louis University.
