Mock draft reveals possible Real Salt Lake selections

No doubt, Real Salt Lake fans have plenty of opinions about which way RSL should go during the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, which takes place Jan. 12. Real has the No. 17 (first round) and No. 24 (second round) picks.
RSL is actually picking lower than it did after winning the MLS Cup in 2009. The draft is scheduled for 10 a.m. (MT) on ESPN2 and ESPN3.
With a solid and talented starting lineup, RSL will look to acquire depth in this year's draft.
The MLS Combine kicks off on Friday with live coverage of all the matches on MLSsoccer.com.
Those in the know believe RSL will have these choices (with opinions):
Tony Cascio (MF/FW), UConn — After attempting to make a Home Grown claim on Cascio, RSL see him fall in their lap during the draft. Potential replacement at right midfield for Andy Williams but will need time.
Aldo Paniagua (MF)
General Caballero — While depth at right back is a key need, Paniagua offers coverage at several places in the midfield, could play right back and is much more experienced than the collegiate options.
Calum Mallace (MF), Marquette — An intimidating holding midfielder who can cover a tremendous amount of ground, Mallace would make a reliable backup for Kyle Beckerman.
R.J. Allen (DF), Monmouth — A fullback that gets into the attack and can play out of the back is just what Jason Kreis was looking for to make up for the departure of Robbie Russell and back up Tony Beltran.
Colin Rolfe (FW), Louisville — RSL will be ecstatic to add a forward of Rolfe's quality in the second round as the best player on the board.
