Son follows father into Major League Soccer

How long has Major League Soccer been around. The son of a former player has joined the league.
The Portland Timbers recently Colombian forward José Adolfo Valencia as a young Designated Player.
Valencia, who made his pro devute at age 16, is the son of former Colombian national-team and MetroStars striker Adolfo “El Tren” Valencia. He went to Portland after playing for Bogotá-based club Santa Fe CD.
“José s a young player we've been monitoring for the last 12 months,” Timbers head coach John Spencer said on MLSSoccer.com. “He is powerful and quick and should be a nice complement to the attacking players we have with the club already. It is important to give him time to settle into a new culture and country and not put too much pressure on him too soon; he has tremendous potential."
The 19-year-old Valencia is the future of the Colombian national team. Columbia won prestigious eight-team Toulon Tournament.
