Real Salt Lake thoughts on LA in second half
Published on Nov 6, 2011 10:46PM
Carson, Calif. — Real Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis wasn't 100 percent pleased with the play of his midfield, but he wasn't critical. Real did put four shots on target and had two bang off the post.

“It wasn't our best night, for sure,” he said. “We had chances for sure.

“I would question again how we were with the ball. There were a couple of spot where we didn't expect [to give up possession]...and then they're in transition in the break against us.”

RSL midfielder Kyle Beckerman, one of the players to hit wood, his coming during extra time in the first half, thought the defense did a good job on LA Galaxy star David Beckham. However, when down a goal, RSL had to push forward, which left Becks plenty of extra space for counter.

“Obviously he whipped in a good ball for that second goal [by Mike Magee],” Beckerman said. “So I guess, not good enough.”

RSL midfielder Will Johnson believed that LA's second goal led to the game becoming a shootout, while Real keeper Nick Rimando added that the third goal was almost inevitable once RSL began to push numbers forward in an attempt to tie the game.

“They exploited us,” Rimando said.
