Andy Williams is a big fan of the 1984 science-fiction film, “The Last Starfighter.”
“It's a great movie,” the RSL midfielder said.
Williams tweeted over the weekend that he was about to watch the movie.
The plot, as described on IMDB.com, is as follows:
A video gaming boy, seemingly doomed to stay at his trailer park home all his life, finds himself recruited as a gunner for an alien defense force.
Well, it's more than that. “The Last Starfighter,” the coming-of-age story of video game whiz Alex Rogan (Lance Guest). The movie also stars Robert Preston, Dan O'Herlihy and Catherine Mary Stewart. It was the first film to completely use computer graphics for its spaceship special effects instead of models.
It's funny, tongue-in-cheek and a lot fun.
Jane Rogan: [gesturing to Alex's Gunstar ship] Alex, what is all this?
Alex Rogan: I, uh, I've been to another planet, Ma.
In the end, "The Last Starfighter" is about triumph despite great odds. Could it be the tale for RSL's season?
