Girls soccer: BYU loading up on Sparta United stars

Seven rising juniors from the Utah-based Sparta United girls soccer club have already made their college commitments, with five bound for BYU, one headed to Utah and one headed to Utah Valley.

Sparta United has won the State Cup five of the past six years and is currently ranked 20th in the country in its age division.

Here's a quick look at each player, and where she has committed, courtesy of assistant coach Greg Phillips. The head coach is Dennis Burrows.

Bizzy Phillips: Alta High star committed to BYU last December. Was a consensus first team all-state selection (both SLC newspapers) for the state champs last fall. Center midfielder was in the US National Team ID Selection Pool in 2010.

Madison Lyons: Alta High track and soccer star committed to BYU in February. The granddaughter of Marc Lyons, a KSL radio broadcaster for BYU football games, Madison was a second-team all-state pick for the state champs last fall and is a forward.

Shaylin Orr: Alta High defender committed to BYU in March after also receiving an offer from Utah State. Started as a sophomore on Alta's 2011 state championship team.

Stephanie Ringwood: Brighton High center midfielder committed to BYU in March. She was a Tribune second-team all-state pick as a sophomore and a starter on Brighton's state championship team as a freshman in 2010.

Rachel Bingham: Maple Mountain wing midfielder committed to BYU in February and was a Tribune first-team all-state pick. She was in the US National Team ID Selection Pool in 2010.

Alyssa Jefferson: Jordan High defender committed to the University of Utah in February after also getting an offer from BYU. She was an honorable mention all-stater as a freshman.

Tori Smith: Jordan High forward committed to Utah Valley at the end of her sophomore year. She also starts for Jordan's girls basketball team.
