The recruiting battle for Pleasant Grove lineman Brandon Fanaika is not finished.

The state's No. 1 prospect, according to Rivals.com, committed to Stanford in December. However, recently, there have been rumblings that he may be reconsidering and staying within the state.

Fanaika told The Tribune he will sign his Letter of Intent on Wednesday, but that things are "up in the air" as to where he will send that letter. He said he is "pretty much" deciding between Stanford and Utah.

That may surprise some. There were rumblings that the 6-foot-3, 315-pount defensive tackle may spurn the high major programs that had offered him and sign with Utah State, where his brother, Jason, is a sophomore linebacker.

If Fanaika signs with Utah, it will represent a major coup for the Utes, who have already pieced together one of their best recruiting classes.
