Linebacker commits to Utes
Published on Sep 22, 2011 07:48PM
Utah's football coaches are hitting the road for some recruiting since the Utes don't have a game this week. Already the visits are paying off for Utah.
Jake Jackson, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker out of La Costa Canyon H.S. in Encinitas, Calif., committed to the Utes Thursday after a visit from running backs coach Dave Schramm.
"I decided to go ahead and do it," Jackson said. "I've been thinking about playing for Utah for a long time so I'm excited."
Johnson will go on a mission before enrolling at Utah. He also visited BYU, but said the Cougars couldn't win him over.
"It just didn't feel right for me," he said.
That Utah is now in the Pac-12 made Jackson's decision even easier.
"That is the icing on the cake," he said.
Jackson is the Utes' 12th commitment for their 2012 class.
