The 2011 Utah girls soccer season is only about a week old, but already Utah State has snared one of the state's top players.
* Danielle Gaztambide, a senior at Judge Memorial Catholic High School, has committed to play for the Aggies. A forward, Gaztambide has scored five goals in two games to help the Bulldogs get off to a 2-0 start.
She scored two in the season opener against Canyon View and added an additional three against Bear River. An outstanding student, Gaztambide received 2010-2011 Academic Awards in AP Biology and AP Psychology, and was a recipient of Mt. Holyoke College Alumni Club Book Award.
* Makenzie Empey, a senior goalkeeper at American Fork High School, has committed to play soccer for BYU-Hawaii. Empey has started for A.F. since she was a freshman. She also plays for the Celtic Storm club soccer team.
