BYU's women's basketball program has received a commitment from Micaelee Orton, a 6-2 power forward from Kearns High in Utah. Orton plans to sign a national letter of intent with BYU in November when the fall early signing period begins.
Orton, a four-year starter at Kearns, also had scholarship offers from Idaho State, Southern Utah, Weber State and Utah Valley University. She is said to be an excellent rebounder who runs the floor well.
Orton is the first player from the Salt Lake Metro club program from the class of 2012 to commit to a Division I school. Seven other Metro products are currently on BYU's roster.
Orton was a second-team all-state selection after her junior season, and a first-team all-region pick. She also excels in track & field at Kearns.
