Former Layton High football star Matt Putnam, a standout at Snow College, has signed with Southern Utah University. A sophomore receiver, Putnam had 26 receptions for 438 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Badgers. Putnam (6-2, 195) also blocked three kicks and a punt and runs a laser-timed 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. He also had interest from UMass, Missouri State, Wagner College, Southern Illinois and Southwest Minnesota State. Utah offered him preferred walk-on status.
