The first two rounds of the Class 5A girls tennis tournament at Liberty Park Wednesday set up some drama for Saturday's finals.

Lone Peak will go into Saturday's finals with a 10-9 lead over defending state champion Davis.

Three unbeaten and top-seeded No. 1 singles players advanced to the semifinals without losing a set.

Defending champion Breezy Turley of Davis, Lone Peak's Leah Heimuli and Bingham's Jean Noh all advanced. The only upset occurred when Alta's Mariah Peterson upset Cottonwood's top-seeded Ashley Hekking.

Class 4A girls open play Thursday with Class 3A girls playing Friday. All three classifications' finals will be held Saturday at Liberty Park.
