Conner Mantz can add Gatorade Utah Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year to his list of accomplishments from the fall.
The Sky View junior won the Class 4A state title by 25 seconds in October then went on to finish seventh at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships. He crossed the line in 15 minutes, 23 seconds at that meet.
"Conner has great character, great work ethic and is a great leader," Sky View coach Kyle Wright said in the release announcing the award. "He maintains a year-round regimen of running and racing, and he’s inspired his teammates to work hard through his actions and words."
Mantz is the first Sky View runner to win the boys’ award.
