High school football and basketball will be back on KJZZ in 2013-2014.
KJZZ 14 and the Utah High School Athletic Association announced Friday that they've agreed to a five-year broadcast deal for 3AA, 4A and 5A football playoffs and state championships as well as 4A and 5A basketball championships.
The prep sports broadcast schedule, which begins next week, will include 19 football games and six basketball games, including the football championship triple-header Nov. 22.
Also, for a second straight season, TOSH (The Orthopedic Speciality Hospital) is the presenting sponsor of 10 high school football "Game of the Week" broadcasts from Aug. 22 through Oct. 24.
The TOSH "Game of the Week" will air at 7 p.m. Thursdays.
Games will be televised live in high definition on KJZZ 14, with the veteran broadcast team of Alema Harrington, Steve Brown and Tony Parks. Game broadcasts also will be streamed live on KJZZ.com.
"KJZZ 14 is very pleased to extend its partnership with the Utah High School Athletic Association, which began in 2005," said Jeremy Castro, KJZZ 14 general manager and vice president of broadcasting for Miller Sports Properties, in a release. "We look forward to airing quality broadcasts that showcase our area high schools and student-athletes, especially our highlighted game of the week thanks to the commitment of TOSH. By moving games from traditional Friday nights to Thursday, a unique and deserved television opportunity exists for high school football and TOSH."
