Hoops stars nominated for McDonald's All-American Games
Seventeen Utah high school basketball players were nominated for the McDonald's All-American Games Thursday morning.
On the boys' side, those nominated include: Lone Peak's Nick Emery and Eric Mika, Brighton's Brandon Miller, East's Parker Van Dyke, Sky View's Jalen Moore, Logan's Luke Falk and Dallin Dahl and South Sevier's Race Parsons and Austin Clark,
On the girls' side, those nominated include: American Fork's Ashley Baugh and Cassidy Fraughton, Bonneville's Emilie Volk, Hillcrest's Whitney Nemelka, Snow Canyon's Amy Harris, Cedar's Tara Shipp, Parowan's Chennin Benson and Bryce Valley's Whitni Syrett.
The 2013 McDonald's All-American Games are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 3, at the United Center in Chicago, Ill. The final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls who will be selected to play in the 2013 Games will be announced during the McDonald's All-American Games Selection Show on ESPNU on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 3 p.m. Utah time.
According to a release, more than 800 players from 39 states and the District of Columbia were nominated for the 2013 McDonald's All-American Games. Texas boasts the highest number of nominees (80), followed by Oklahoma (73), Iowa (60), California (59) and Virginia (44). Players were nominated by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald's All-American Games Selection Committee.
