The rivalry between the two Class 5A schools, which happen to be separated by roughly 2.5 miles, is one of the best the state has to offer, so with the upcoming Region 4 clashes set to take place, rather than cramming a gym to its capacity as the rivalry does nearly every year, the two schools decided to go an alternate route.

A route with much more room.

The two sides decided to give up their home games in 2013 to have each game played at the UCCU Center at Utah Valley University in Orem. The Knights and Cavemen are set to tangle for the first time this season on Thursday, Jan. 17. The game originally was scheduled to be played at American Fork, but will now be played at UVU. The second time Lone Peak and American Fork are set to face off at UVU on Thursday, Feb. 7.

The games were originally scheduled for Friday, Jan. 18, and Friday, Feb. 8, but were pushed forward in order to be able to play at UVU.

Lone Peak is ranked No. 2 in the country currently by MaxPreps.com and No. 5 in the USA Today Super 25 power rankings. American Fork is off to an 8-5 start.

The girls’ basketball games scheduled between Lone Peak and American Fork have been moved to Friday, Jan. 18, and Friday, Feb. 8.
