Stallon Saldivar, a 2009 graduate from Judge Memorial Catholic High School, who is now a senior at Northern Arizona University, became just the 17th player in Big Sky Conference basketball history to eclipse 400 career assists.
In NAU’s 87-80 victory over Montana State on Dec. 17, Saldivar had 12 points and six assists, putting him past the 400-assist mark.
During his career playing for the Lumberjacks in Flagstaff, Ariz., Saldivar has been named a Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete recipient, Big Sky Player of the Week and the National Mid-Major Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Saldivar has also been nominated for the national Bob Cousy Award. Saldivar is a business economics major, who is set to graduate from NAU this spring.
Saldivar will be playing in Utah three times in this his senior season with Lumberjacks: at BYU on Dec. 27, at Weber State on Jan. 17 and at Southern Utah University on Feb. 2. In eight games played this year, Saldivar is averaging 5.9 points per game, along with 4 rebounds and 3.5 assists. The Lumberjacks are currently 6-5 this season.
During his prep career at Judge Memorial, Saldivar helped the Bulldogs win the 2008 3A state championship, scoring 23 points in the 77-65 crown-clinching victory over Wasatch.
