You have to feel just a tinge of sympathy for Juan Diego.
The Soaring Eagle were the underdogs of the Class 3A baseball tournament, forced to play Snow Canyon in the first round, winning six straight games in the one-loss bracket and pushing Snow Canyon to the verge of collapse. The highlight should be remembered as Juan Diego's surprise 3-1 upset over Spanish Fork — pitcher Croyden "Bubba" Carr talked about the victory after the game:
The Soaring Eagle went on to beat Snow Canyon 2-0 to force a second game, but couldn't defend their title in a 5-1 loss in Game 2.
