FLDS followers in Short Creek return children to their mother

Here’s an update to the story earlier in the week about Sarah Allred and the six children she was trying to reclaim.

Allred and her kids were reunited this week, says Hildale resident Jim Barlow, who has been following the ordeal.

Barlow did not have any details. He said part of the agreement between Allred and FLDS leadership was to no longer speak publicly about the case.

Allred’s story had been a familiar one for FLDS members who are booted by or quit following Warren Jeffs.

Allred was told to go repent. Sometime after, her husband was given the same command, Allred’s attorney, Roger Hooele, said this week. Allred thought her children were in the care of sister wives who loved the children.

Eventually, Hooele said, Allred came to the realization she was being cheated out of her children — four girls and two boys — and then she discovered her children were not in the care of the sister wives but rather FLDS authorities.

This week, Hoole demanded the FLDS return the children or he was going to organize demonstrations in Hildale and adjoining Colorado City, Ariz.
