‘The Mexican Mormon War’

Have you guys seen the video piece Vice magazine did on what it called the "Mexican Mormon War"?

It’s about Mormon colonies in Mexico, which were founded by polygamists after the US outlawed plural marriage, and how they are surviving and fighting against the drug-related violence that plagues the country.

The piece, which is just over 40 minutes long, makes connections to both Mitt Romney, whose father was born in one of those colonies, and the "Mormon Manson," Ervil LeBaron. The style is first-person (and expletive-laden) but it’s an interesting, well-done take on all those topics — plus the war on drugs.

Watch the piece here, and let me know what you think. (Also, should online video journalism be called? Mini-documentary? WebVestigation? You-Tubery? Discuss.)

Also, if you want some background on the edgy Vice and what they do, check out this article that just ran in Newsweek.
