If you've been keeping up with FLDS news stories over the last couple of years, from the ban on sex to the hundreds of sect members tossed out of their homes in excommunications, a fair question might be: Why does anyone stick around?
This flier, which surfaced on the FLDS Texas blog and private investigator Sam Brower confirmed was found in Colorado City, could provide part of the answer.
It reflects what people have been telling me about the message from FLDS leaders: Warren Jeffs is a martyr. He could be free if only the people's faith was strong enough.
And since it seems unlikely that Jeffs' Texas prison will come crashing down, no show of faith will be enough.
That mind-set that turns any questions about Jeffs back on the doubter, and helps to turn people against each other.
"It's not me," it says, "it's you."
