Willie Jessop looking to collect
The former bodyguard for Warren Jeffs turned spokesman for the sect turned anti-Jeffs crusader has won the lawsuit he filed against his former leaders.
As expected, Warren Jeffs, Lyle Jeffs and John Wayman took the "answer them nothing" approach and ignored the suit, leaving Jessop with a $30 million default judgment.
Now he's trying to get the money. Jessop is aiming first at the multi-million-dollar company Wayman is president of, the Twin City Improvement Association, and, if that doesn't work, he looks headed for Texas and the Yearning for Zion Ranch.
It's going to be fascinating to see someone with some insider knowledge take on the world of FLDS finances.
The original suit he filed is still a fascinating read, by the way.
And here's the first legal shot at collecting from Twin City. It's rather poetic: "Invoking the name of Deity and preying on the faith of the people they purport to lead and represent, the individual defendants have engaged in multiple wrongful and sometimes illegal acts."
