Pac-12: Stanford advances in NCAA baseball
Stanford was considered a bubble team when it came to at-large selections for the NCAA baseball tournament, but the Cardinal are the Pac-12's last remaining entry.
Tommy Edman's two-run, walk-off homer gave Stanford a 5-4 victory over host Indiana in a regional championship game Monday night. The Cardinal had rallied in a previous meeting with Indiana, forcing the deciding game.
Edman, a switch hitter, had never homered as a left-handed batter at any level, the school's news release said.
Stanford advances to a best-of-three Super Regional series at Vanderbilt, beginning Friday. The weekend's eight winners will go to the College World Series.<
