Pac-12 extends Larry Scott's contract through 2017-18 school year

The Pac-12's presidents and commissioner Larry Scott have agreed to a contract extension that will keep him on the job through the 2017-18 school year, the conference announced Monday.

Since he took the position in 2009, Scott's influence has been felt throughout the league. That's particularly true in Utah, with the conference's first expansion since 1978 bringing the University of Utah aboard (along with Colorado). He's also credited with enhancing the Pac-12 men's basketball tournament with a move to Las Vegas, securing an agreement for revenue sharing, creating the Pac-12 Networks and signing a media rights deal with ESPN and Fox.

In 2011, The Salt Lake Tribune named Scott the most influential person in Utah sports. He's the only non-Utah resident ever to earn that distinction.
