Happy Tuesday. With but a few weeks remaining, Republicans proposed a solution to the pending fiscal cliff that calls for $800 billion in new revenue, billions in cuts for federal health programs and billions in cuts for discretionary spending.
-> They credit its framework to a plan laid out last year by former Clinton chief of staff Erskine Bowles, though Bowles distanced himself from the plan on Monday: "While I'm flattered the Speaker would call something 'the Bowles plan,' the approach outlined in the letter Speaker Boehner sent to the president does not represent the Simpson-Bowles plan, nor is it the Bowles plan."
