There are a myriad of ways to respond to having your truck broken into - rants and tirades spring immediately to mind. But Rep. Ryan Wilcox, R-Ogden, opted for a more Zen-like approach.

On Facebook.

The lawmaker, who works as a retail manager for wireless carrier Sprint, posted a four-point message to the robber - or robbers - who broke into his truck and stole a laptop Tuesday night. He said the only reason he left the stuff in the truck was because he was still wearing a sling from rotator cuff surgery and decided not to carry it in that night.

From Wilcox's Facebook post Wednesday morning:

1. That laptop is encrypted beyond your ability to use. It's useful only to Sprint. If you really need one, bring that one back, and we'll get you one you can actually use. 2. The lapdock is worthless without my phone. You'll need a Motorola Photon to get any use out if it. I can help you with that if you need. I'll even pay for it if it means it's put to good use. I'm serious. 3. I guess you can wear my sunglasses, but really? Did you need both pairs? I guess I really only needed one. 4. Enjoy the backpack. It's nice one. At the very least, I hope you'll use it for school. I'm going to pretend that's what you're going to do anyway. I would be seriously grateful if you wouldn't mind returning the papers/other things I had in it though. Especially the pictures from my kids. I really do need them, and they won't be worth much to you.

Wilcox said he was more annoyed than anything. And the theft caused him to miss the interim Legislative session this morning. He said Ogden Police were investigating the crime.

But he said the they missed some valuable items in their haste - including bag of baseballs and another nice equipment bag. It's the loss of some drawings his 4-year-old daughter made that really bothers him, though.

"I was going to get some of those drawings framed," he said. "Julia has been on a drawing binge lately."

But he said he isn't mad - possibly channeling this guy.
