Santorum tops Romney by 34 votes in Iowa; officials call it a "tie." Poll: Mormons misunderstand LDS immigration policy.

Happy Thursday. The final results are in from Iowa and, well, it's a tie. Of sorts. The Iowa GOP has certified the tally from its caucuses, showing Rick Santorum with a 34-vote win, but calling the match between he and Mitt Romney a "split decision" because of some missing votes in eight precincts. "It's a tie for the ages," writes the Des Moines Register's Jennifer Jacobs. [DMR]

-> Romney told reporters traveling with him in South Carolina that the Iowa results show a "virtual tie."

Topping the news: West Valley City Mayor Mike Winder's entry into the Salt Lake County mayor's race draws a sharp rebuke from the head of the county Republican Party. Winder, of course, is a Republican. [Trib] [DNews]
