Maybe the economy isn't as bad as everyone says?

In a quick 10 days, Rep. Carl Wimmer was able to raise more than $28,000 in an online "money-bomb," nearly three times his goal for the project.

"It's blown me away. I'm completely, completely amazed," he said of the total.

Back in May, Wimmer said he had already raised more than $100,000. Add that to the $28,000-plus and it gives the Herriman Republican a decent start. Wimmer will have to file his first disclosure report early next month.

So far the only reported contribution he has received was a $5,000 donation from the Citizens United Political Victory Fund that Wimmer received last month.

This will all come in handy next month, once Wimmer finds out what the 4th Congressional District, where he says he will run, will look like.
