The tea party fight over Romney. Inside Horizon PAC. A new ethics probe in Provo.

Happy Thursday and welcome to September. For the first time, we got a peek at the campaign report of Horizon PAC, a group of early Jon Huntsman supporters who set up a presidential run before he actually left China and was able to legally participate. The now defunct PAC took in some big money, including $750,000 from the Huntsman family. It spent it all too. [Trib] [DNews]

Topping the news: Huntsman delivers his plan to boost jobs and calls for dramatic tax reform. [Trib] [TheTelegraph] [NYTimes] [Globe]

-> Tea party groups are tussling over Mitt Romney's scheduled appearance at one of their rallies Sunday. The Utah coordinator of FreedomWorks likes Romney, the group's top people in D.C. most certainly do not. [Trib] [USAToday] [WaPost] [Politico]

Shot/Chaser: The shot: (from a DNews story on Horizon PAC) "Jeff Wright, the campaign's Utah-based volunteer finance chairman, said he knew nothing about Horizon PAC because it is 'completely independent of the campaign, and there can be no coordination' under federal campaign law."

Chaser: Donation to Horizon PAC on March 15: Jeff Wright, $10,000.

Tweets of the day: @HollyontheHill: "Still pointedly poking @jasoninthehouse. Is that really necessary?"

@BenMcAdams: "After Mike Young calls Utah 'passive-aggressive,' I'll be nice to his face, but he's off my Christmas card list." [SeattleWeekly]

2012 watch: Obama wanted to pitch his jobs plan before Congress on the same day and at the same time as a GOP presidential debate. The GOP held firm. Obama is now giving the speech the following day. [WaPost] [NYTimes]
